Xcel Fitness & Conditioning Suite

sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde has catered for top athletes and coaches for over 25 years, providing our sports men and women with Olympic level facilities.

The fitness suite, which opened in May 1997, is a development which contains state-of-the-art equipment over two rooms and features superb cardio-vascular and weights conditioning facilities.

Both suites are used by élite athletes and coaches as well as the governing bodies from a wide range of sports. They are also available to the public on a membership basis for 50 weeks of the year.

Conditioning Suite

Weights Conditioning Facility

Our weight lifting facility features a complete range of warm-up equipment as well as light and heavy weights and a punch bag. With 24 stations, the Cybex machines offer enough variety to provide a comprehensive workout.

The equipment has the capacity to cater for all types of workout, from light weights for muscle toning to heavy weights for the serious trainer. This area is augmented with an excellent centrally operated sound system, along with three video screens, digital satellite TV and rolling information screens.

Fitness Suite

Located on the first floor of our sports halls and above the weights facility, the fully refurbished suite features the latest high-tech Precor cardio-vascular equipment, including five treadmills, five cross trainers, three upright bikes, three recumbent bikes, two rowing machines, one step machine and one ab crunch plus Swiss balls.

In addition, we have a centrally operated music system, which comprises of a television at each machine, with ten TV stations, that have satellite and your own remote control. Both the cardio-vascular room and the weights conditioning room are fitted with powerful air conditioning systems, our entertainment and comfort is there to provide you with the motivation to workout.

CV Room

Upon joining you receive one hour of instruction on how to use the machines and a free personal programme or health assessment to be taken within the first three months of joining. Fitness Programmes can be personally designed to meet the individual's needs.

A health assessment offers all of the following: height, weight, body mass index analysis, blood pressure and cholestrol testing, sit/reach and grip strength testing as well as a VO2 max analysis which indicates your aerobic capacity, measuring your stamina and endurance. Members receive a free health assessment if taken within the first three months of membership. Additional tests cost £15.

Health assessments are available at a cost of £15.

Sauna

The Sauna is available for use for all Xcel members. It is located in the main house and costs £2.00 per person for a 60 minute session.

Trim Trail

Trim Trail

sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde and Xcel Fitness & Conditioning Suite invite you to come and try this new outdoor experience.

The Trim Trail is over 1,200 metres long and has fifteen outdoor stations (all colour coded).
