Communities all over Scotland are to benefit from better access to quality sports facilities, as part of a £4.6m package of Lottery funding from sportscotland aimed at getting more people more active, more often.
Twelve out of the 21 new sports projects being supported in this round of sports facilities awards are for facilities that will be available for both school pupils and the local community, underlining sportscotland's commitment to improving the links between sport at school and sport in the wider community.
Among the awards helping to achieve this are:
- £500,000 to develop sports facilities at Ardnamurchan Community School.
- Facilities on offer both to pupils and to the local community will include a sports hall, fitness suite, changing rooms and full size natural and synthetic grass pitches.

Ian Robson, Chief Executive of sportscotland, said: "If we want to improve the health of our nation we have to take a serious look at our physical activity levels, and that means giving more people the opportunity to get active, regardless of where they live.Schools are the heart of every community. Providing and improving facilities at schools means not only that young people will have the quality facilities needed to encourage them to get active and stay active but also that the whole community will benefit from having access to sports facilities in their local area."
- To date over £90m of Lottery funds has been awarded by sportscotland to build and improve sports facilities throughout Scotland.
