Independent review for shinty
Wednesday 6 June 2001
sportscotland and the Camanachd Association today announced that Genesis Strategic Management Consultants had been awarded the contract to carry out an independent review of the Association, which will be led by Brian Porteous (former Deputy Director of Cultural and Leisure Services with Glasgow City Council).
This review, know as a Governing Body Development Audit, is in line with sportscotland's desire and commitment to see the professionalism of national governing bodies of sport to ensure they are prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century. This process has previously been carried very successfully in a number of other sports including athletics, swimming and curling.
The purpose of the audit is to enable the Camanachd Association to assess the current position of their organisation in key policy areas and to check whether they are keeping pace with the expectations required of a modern, well functioning sporting organisation, identifying areas of their performance that require attention. It will focus on a number of areas including the core functions of the Association, and a review of their key performance areas (i.e. governance and management of the sport, state of the domestic game, competitive structures and public interest and support).
It is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.
