Institute athletics coach moves on
Thursday 15 November 2001
The Scottish Institute of Sport today announced the resignation of Meg Stone from her position as National High Performance Coach leading the innovative Institute track and field programme. The Institute has reluctantly accepted her resignation as Meg is returning to the United States of America to accompany her husband Mike Stone who has accepted a role with the US Olympic Committee starting in January 2002.
In the time Meg has spent with the Scottish Institute of Sport, she has supported Scotland's leading track and field athletes, implemented a programme of support for personal coaches of athletes, including a series of seminars with leading International coaches and recently lead the introduction of a focus on support for Scotland's leading "High Flyers" - the emerging athletic talent who will represent Scotland and GB at world events in the future. These programmes will continue as laid out by Meg, with the recruitment of a coach to continue to drive the track and field programme forward for the Institute, in conjunction with Scottish Athletics Limited, commencing immediately.
The Institute and Scottish Athletics wish Meg and Mike well in their new careers in the USA and look forward to meeting Meg on the athletics tracks of the world!
