Burns ceilidh to support Scots' Commonwealth hopes
Tuesday 15 January 2002
The fundraising for the Bank of Scotland Scottish Team continues with an even stronger Scottish feel as the Edinburgh Corn Exchange hosts a traditional Burns Ceilidh on 25 January 2002 where all proceeds are to go towards preparing our athletes for the XVII Commonwealth Games this summer.
The evening will begin with a champagne reception followed by a traditional four course Burns Supper. It's then time to work off the haggis, neeps and tatties with dancing to a top Ceilidh band. To round off a great night, take part in the Grand sporting prize draw and take away a memorable souvenir.
Commenting, Louise Martin, Chairman, Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland said: "Fundraising activities can be fun as well as a lot of hard work. We hope people will come along as groups or individuals and join in a great night of tradition knowing that they are doing their bit to support Scotland at the Commonwealth Games."
So far fundraising dinners have been held in Glasgow and Perth, raising over £7,000. However there are still opportunities to come along and support the Scottish Team at dinners in Stirling 4 April, Inverness 10 April and Aberdeen (date to be announced).
