    Synthetic turf pitch study

    Sport England and sportscotland undertook a joint survey of synthetic turf pitch facilities in 2005/2006. The main objective of the research was to help inform the Facility Planning Model (FPM) which is used to assist decisions relating to the strategic provision of sports facilities. However the findings raise a number of issues which will also be of interest to a wider audience including local authorities, facility providers, governing bodies and other sport-related bodies.

    This document provides a useful tool to help education authorities make proper provision for outdoor PE and sport at primary and secondary schools. It sets out a model for calculating the playing fields required for a range of school sizes, and gives technical advice on dimensions, layout, construction and maintenance.

    Under the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, from 4 December 2006, sportscotland has a general duty to promote equality of opportunity between people with a disability and other people. As part of this Act, we are also required to produce a Disability Equality Scheme. Our Disability Equality Scheme is incorporated within our Single Equity Scheme, which sets out how we will promote disability, gender and race equality.

    Sport and community development manual

    This manual was commissioned to assist those setting up and running sports-based projects in the community, particularly in areas of deprivation such as the Social Inclusion Partnership areas in Scotland. It advises on: setting aims and objectives; lessons learned from good practice; and monitoring and evaluating projects to determine their impact on sporting and community outcomes. It is intended to be a practical manual that supports the principle of evidence-based policy - ‘what works and why?’ It should allow those running sports-based projects to demonstrate their impact.

    This study was to investigate and report on the nature of sports clubs in Scotland in order to provide a strong information base on which to build a national club development programme. Includes individual survey results for angling, athletics, badmington, bowls, cricket, football, golf, hockey, swimming and tennis.

    This document sets out the developed strategy for sport in Scotland until 2007 and beyond [2003-2007]. A great deal of thought and effort has gone into its creation, with many people contributing over a long period of time. Although the document has been produced by sportscotland, in a very real sense the strategy’s author and owner is the whole of Scottish sport.
