The aim of our Active Schools Network
Within sportscotland’s Corporate Plan 2011-2015, Active Schools is identified as the flagship programme within School Sport, and the programme aims to ensure there are more and higher quality opportunities for all children to participate in sport within schools and to increase capacity through the recruitment of a network of volunteers, who in turn deliver activity sessions in schools.
While the focus is sport, the Active Schools Network will connect to the wider landscapes of play, dance, exercise and active living.
sportscotland works in partnership with local authorities to invest in and support the Active Schools staffing network of managers and coordinators who work with Primary, Secondary and ASN schools across Scotland.
