With such a big team spread right across the country, it’s critical that all of us involved in the Active Schools Network are coordinated in our efforts. It’s therefore important that all of our teams are working to the same national goals and outcomes, whilst having the flexibility to tailor their efforts according to local needs.
At the start of the ‘second phase’ of Active Schools, all 32 local authorities were asked to sign up to the Active Schools Partnership Agreement. This agreement defines fundamental aim, key outcomes and national objectives of Active Schools. It forms the basis of sportscotland’s Active Schools investment in each local authority, and outlines objectives relating to recruitment, induction, partnership working and monitoring and evaluation .
As well as putting in place a formal national planning process to guide the work of Active Schools, it is also important that individual Active Schools teams work to their own plan, which contributes to these national aims and objectives.
The Partnership Agreement therefore directly informs each local authority’s Annual Action Plan which is specific to each local authority. This plan is developed in partnership between sportscotland the local authority and outlines the key actions being undertaken by the Active Schools team in the year ahead.
This Annual Action plan then directly informs a plan for each school cluster.
