National School Sport Week

sportscotland is delighted to be supporting National School Sport Week again this year. It is an exciting initiative which will take place during 11 – 15 June 2012 and will use the power of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire pupils across the country to take part in sport.

Register now to be part of the celebrations and receive free resources for your school.

The National School Sport Week programme is closely aligned to the overall aims of Active Schools – to give children and young people the opportunity to get involved in sport. The Active Schools Network will help to roll out and co-ordinate National School Sport Week activities in schools.

Previously they helped by:

  • integrating the week in the annual sporting programme of schools
  • linking primary schools together and suggesting activities that could take place at the feeder secondary school
  • promoting and publicising the event
  • suggesting alternative sports for schools to try to help increase participation.

There are 3 key elements to National School Sport Week this year:

Stage your Games Register for National School Sport Week and access lots of resources to help you stage your Games.  Celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay, welcome the world to the UK during London 2012 World Sport Day and encourage young people to take part in more sport through National School Sport Week.
