Additional benefits of the new infrastructure

The new infrastructure will support partners in recruiting, retaining, developing and recognising the coaching and volunteering workforce across Scotland. Specifically, the resource will aim to achieve:

  • an increased number of volunteers (officials and administrators) deployed through school and community sport and sporting pathways
  • improved quality of coaching and volunteering at all levels (supported through effective CPD programmes)
  • increased number of young people engaging in volunteering in the community
  • support for employers and deployers of volunteers in the recruitment, retention, deployment and recognition of volunteers in sport
  • increased number of qualified and active coaches, linked directly to partners’ needs including school and community sport and sports specific development
  • increased number of coaches progressing through qualifications and staying within the coaching profession
  • increased profile/recognition for volunteers and coaches and their role within the regional area
  • increased number and quality of tutors delivering within Scottish sport.
