The availability, accessibility and quality of Scotland’s sporting facilities directly influence whether people take part in sport, which sports they play and how well they perform. 

This section of the website looks at the services which sportscotland offers Scottish sport to improve the quality, sustainability and accessibility of our sports facilities, and is split into the following sections:

Funding for Facilities

sportscotland invests Lottery and Government funding into Scotland’s sports facilities.  Our core facility funding programme is the Sports Facilities Fund.

Specialist Advice and Expertise

We advise a range of partners on most aspects of facility provision including planning, design, construction, management, programming and economics

Looking for information on facilities in your area?

Local authorities are responsible for the majority of Scottish sports facilities – both community facilities (leisure centres, swimming pools, playing fields etc...) and school sports facilities.  If you want to find out more about facilities near you, visit your local authority’s website – you can find links to your local authority’s website in our contacts section.
