Sporting pathways are about providing opportunities for people to participate in sport at any level and at any stage in life.
sportscotland works closely with local, regional and national partners to provide pathways for people to take part and progress in sport from grassroots through to high performance level.
We help local authorities provide Scottish children with the best start towards leading healthy, active lifestyles through Active Schools and we invest in Community Sport at a grassroots level.
Nationally, we work with Scottish Governing Bodies of sport (SGBs), and the sportscotland Institute of Sport network to give Scotland’s talented athletes the training, support and advice they need to help them towards producing world class performances. We are working closely with SGBs to help them develop their own sport pathway using the principles of long term player development.
Take a look at the work we’ve been doing to strengthen sporting pathways by providing support at a regional level through the introduction of Sports Partnerships, Academies and Area Institutes of Sport.
