Lead 2014

Lead 2014 is an exciting programme led by sportscotland and Youth Sport Trust, in association with Glasgow 2014.

The programme is aimed at developing the leadership skills and harnessing the enthusiasm of young Scots in the build up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and in its legacy, while engaging them with sport as a whole.

In 2011, Lead 2014 launched by inviting every secondary school in Scotland to send a selection of young people  to take part in one of six free conferences in universities across the country.

First year successes:

  • 701 young leaders (school children) will have taken part
  • These young leaders have come from 93 schools across the country
  • 117 Teachers / Active Schools staff supporting their young leaders
  • 25 local authorities signed up to take part.

Read about the conference at RGU, Aberdeen.

This year Lead 2014 will also visit the University of the Highlands and Islands and hold seven conferences across the country:

  • University of Highlands & Islands, Inverness - 29 February 2012
  • Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen - 8 March 2012
  • Strathclyde University, Glasgow - 9 March 2012
  • St Andrew's University, St Andrews - 20 March 2012
  • University of Stirling, Stirling - 22 March 2012
  • University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh - 23 March 2012
  • University of the West of Scotland, Paisley - 28 March 2012

Thanks to all the schools who have signed up and we look forward to seeing you there!
