Reaching Higher – Building on the Success of Sport 21 (the National Strategy) maintains the Sport 21 vision for Scotland as:
- a country where sport is more available to all;
- a country where sporting talent is recognised and nurtured; and
- a country achieving and sustaining world-class performance in sport.
National outcomes
To achieve this vision, the strategy identifies two national outcomes for Scottish sport – increasing participation and improving performance.
National priorities
It sets our four national priorities, the building blocks:
- well trained people;
- strong organisations;
- quality facilities;
- providing the pathway.
Key partners
Key partners, in particular the Scottish Government, sportscotland, Scottish Governing Bodies and local authorities, should plan how they will contribute.
While the National Strategy sets out core roles and responsiblities for these partners, it appreciates that there is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach to achieving the national outcomes.
sportscotland’s role
sportscotland has a dual role to play:
- planning and delivering our contribution, to putting in place the building blocks of the strategy, and
- supporting local authorities, Scottish Governing Bodies and other partners in planning, developing and sustaining their contributions to this strategy.
