Direct club investment

In late 2011, sportscotland published the club sport framework – a route map to support the development of world class club sport.  Now, in line with that publication, we are putting the finishing touches to a holistic support package which will help aid and develop sport clubs across the country.

The new package offers a range of options – some are new and some are improved versions of existing programmes – and they are all open to clubs of all sorts and sizes. The one thing local sport clubs need to have to take advantage of these is a commitment to develop.

‘Direct club investment’ is a new and additional component of sportscotland’s investment in club sport. This funding stream compliments our existing club investment: Awards for All, sportsmatch and the Sports Facility Fund. Direct club investment is unique as it offers investment to support club development over a period of 2-4 years, giving the club time to embed significant developmental change. In 2013/14 sportscotland will, through this funding stream, directly invest in around 50 local sport clubs that are committed to significantly developing their club.
