Langside Sports Club, a registered Scottish charity, is seeking a passionate, community-minded trustee to join our board. As a trustee, you will work collaboratively with other board members and to provide strategic governance and oversight for the charity. This demanding but rewarding volunteer opportunity is ideal for someone looking to give back through service on the board of a beloved community organisation.

Trustee Job Description - Core Responsibilities:

  • Attend and actively participate in 6 board meetings per year, usually weekday evenings
  • Make decisions regarding organisational strategy, budgets, policies, hiring, etc. to further the Club's charitable mission
  • Manage resources responsibly to advance the interests of Club members, sport participants, and the wider community
  • Monitor operations, programs, facilities, and staffing to ensure alignment with strategic goals
  • Stay informed and comply with sports charity governance best practices and legal/regulatory responsibilities
  • Participate in subcommittee work related to finance, fundraising, programmes, facilities, etc.
  • Promote the Club publicly and advocate for grassroots sports development
  • Ensuring the Club is compliment with all relevant policies and regulations, such as health and safety, risk assessments, child protection, welfare, etc.

  • Passion for promoting grassroots sports and helping the community
  • Strategic thinking skills and sound judgment
  • Financial literacy and budget management skills
  • Commitment to attend board meetings and take on special projects
  • Willingness to leverage personal/professional networks to further the Club's charitable aims
  • Understanding of charity operations and compliance
  • Strong collaboration, communication and negotiation abilities
  • Problem-solving mindset and sound judgement
  • Passion for accessible, community-focused sports
