sportscotland have worked in partnership with Children 1st for over 14 years and currently contract their Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (CWPS) Service to directly support Scottish Governing Bodies (SGB) and sports clubs with child wellbeing and protection. The CWPS Delivery Plan focuses on the following:
- The Standards for Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (Standards) – to promote a safe and child centred culture in SGBs and community clubs. Compliance with the Standards is a standard condition of investment for all SGB who receive investment from sportscotland.
- Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (CWPS) Tool - The tool allows the user to self-assess against the Standards, then create an action plan to put in place measures to better safeguard children and young people.
- Management and administration of the CWPS Tool promoting and supporting the Tools roll out to clubs.
- Education & Training – Providing expert input into the development of sportscotland CWPS related training interventions.
- Advice, support and information services –
- Direct support to the public through Parentline for immediate concerns.
- Parent and club resources
- CWPS Service Website - where all resources and information is hosted
- The development of support information, templates and resources.
- Co-ordination of the SGB CWPS Network Group where SGB CWP Officers support each other through sharing of good practice and discussion.
