Coach Education and Funding

Many Sports Governing Bodies deliver a range of high quality, regulated qualifications to help you to develop your coaching skills and knowledge in a structured and supportive way. Contact the Scottish Governing Body (SGB) for your sport, check out the coaching pages on their website or speak to your employer/deployer to find out about the courses and qualifications most suitable for you.

There is a new coaching qualification called the Scottish Coaching Certificate and it has been developed, in conjunction with a number of Sports Governing Bodies, to replace the previous UKCC qualifications which have been retired. This new framework has been developed by sportscotland and is mapped to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport & Physical Activity (CIMSPA) Professional Standards and jointly certified by CIMSPA, sportscotland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

To find out more about the Scottish Coaching Certificate go to Coach Subsidy for recognised governing body qualifications page. (sportscotland.org.uk)
